Middle School Boys can say the Darnedest Things

One of the things Hoss has started up with the youth group is leadership training for the boys in middle school. They meet once a month and are using Rick Warren’s Bible Study Methods book. Since Hoss is leaving, Ed Smith, Philip Garton, and I are going to continue this since it is a really good thing. These boys have grown up a lot in the past 8 months or so.

Well this past month we met at the home of Breck and Donna Habegger. For those of you that don’t know the Habegger’s or where they live, they live in Morristown. Its about a 45 minute drive from their house to Laurel, yet they still come to Laurel. Donna was gonna take 3 of the boys in her car and I was gonna take the other 2 and Hoss in my car. One of the boys started talking about how he invited his friend to church. His friend replied back that he didn’t want to waste five hours of his Saturday at church. Hehehe… church shouldn’t be a waste of time to begin with, but we do church on Sunday and even when Carlus or Dave is preaching… we still manage to make it under the five hour mark! šŸ˜‰ Well this led into a conversation into how we dress for church. The friend that got invited told this boy that he also didn’t want to go to church because you have to wear a tuxedo. The other boy responded to it by saying “It doesn’t matter what you wear, you could be wearing nothing as long as your heart is in the right place.” The way he said it, caused Hoss and I to just burst out in laughter. Luckily the red light at Laurel is a bit long, so the laughter wasn’t a distraction to me driving. (Yeah somebody in our car was especially good at the #3 Worship style, so we had to wait on him.)
